Matt Yurus

Matt Yurus' path into law began in Washington, D.C. as a law student and clerk on Capitol Hill. There, he aided congressional committees in high-profile investigations, helped create policy and advised lawmakers through his superiors. In such an environment, desired outcomes were achieved through sound jurisprudence and precise messaging.

Matt launched Yurus Management & Counsel, LLC in the summer of 2021. His boutique style offering, commitment to excellence, and attention to detail were quickly recognized by his peers and clients alike.  He now represents and advises startups, small to midsize enterprises, executives, and television talent. He also serves as outside counsel to an American publicly traded company.

Matt is a media law adjunct professor at Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. His work focuses on copyright; defamation; First Amendment; name, image, and likeness; Section 230; and trademarks. Additionally, he tracks the Federal Trade Commission’s filings concerning Facebook, Instagram, and other major media.

Previously, Matt field produced, reported and anchored in major media markets, including Washington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas. He was also CBS Local News’s first digital anchor, delivering on camera reports concerning major, breaking news to the company’s websites across the country. He reported and co-hosted the weekend morning show for the NBC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona. He also recorded a pilot legal show for Thomas Reuters Corporation and emceed events for CBS Veterans Network as well as Boy Scouts of America.

Matt graduated from George Mason University School of Law, where he served as chief justice of the moot court team and co-founded “The Global Antitrust Institute Invitational Moot Court Competition.” He also earned his master’s from Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications. It is considered by many to be the top journalism, media and communications program in the country. Finally, Matt earned his bachelor’s from Middle Tennessee State University, where he played Division I baseball.

He is licensed to practice law in Arizona and New York.

Matt enjoys raising his toddler, Theodore “Teddy” Yurus, golf, and the Phoenix Suns.
